AMMAN -- When the long-awaited Amman Economic Summit, widely billed as "Casablanca II," meets here next week, Israel's annual Jerusalem Business Conference will convene in competition a two hours' drive away.

A colossal blunder in timing?

Not at all, say Israeli sources. The Jerusalem conference, they claim, was deliberately scheduled as a consolation prize for Israeli businessmen barred from the Amman summit by strict quotas.
