Following the election of Archbishop Aram Keshishian to the Catholicate of Cilicia, World Parish, the international organ of the World Methodist Council, reported in its July/August 1995 issue:

"The Cilicia Catholicate of the Armenian church based in Lebanon and founded in 1293, has traditionally enjoyed spiritual and administrative equality with the headquarters of the church in Armenia, based at Etchmiadzin."
