Experience Kwanzaa, the African tradition: Reflect on Black history and. accomplishments; ponder seven principles.
The symbol of Kwanzaa is Mishumaa saba (mee-shoo-MAH SAH-bah). "The seven candles" The candles are the heart and spirit of Kwanzaa; they are placed in the Kinara (kah-RAH-moo) for lighting. There are three (3) red candles, three (3) green candles, and one (1) black candle. The lighting of the candles is a daily ritual during the week of Kwanzaa, symbolizing light, ancestry and life.
