Bridge Street A.M.E. baptizes baby abandoned there last year.
Little Anthony Walker, a four-year-old abandoned on Bridge Street A.M.E. Church's front steps last December, was baptized into the same Church this month. Anthony's great-grandmother, Vertice Walker, recently gained custody of Anthony and his two-year-old brother, Taiquan.
Walker's act was in tribute to Bridge Street Church's 4,200 congregants, who saved, clothed, and fed Anthony after finding him, when he wandered into the Bridge Street vestibule with a note pinned to his jacket. Taiquan had been left at a Staten Island shelter that same day.
