(The Round Up) (U-WIRE) LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- A bill specifying gender roles for Homecoming King and Queen candidates was passed by a 14-13 vote in front of a packed gallery at Thursday's Associated Students of New Mexico State University Senate meeting.
The bill would ensure that each candidate for Homecoming King is male and each candidate for Homecoming Queen is female.
The bill now goes to ASNMSU President Jacob Saiz who has until Nov. 4 to sign the bill into law or to veto it.
As of Friday, Saiz was undecided as to whether he would veto the bill.
