SEATTLE (AP) Boeing 767s dating back at least seven years may have been made with inadequately tightened tail bolts because of a faulty calibration process, a newspaper reported today.
Boeing's first 767-400ER, still in flight testing, was grounded last month until the tail bolts were replaced. Since then, tail bolts also have been replaced on five 767-300s and two -400s that were in final assembly or being prepared for flight tests, a Boeing Co. spokesman said.
Boeing officials doubt that the bolts, which hold the vertical tail to the fuselage, pose an imminent risk but are considering a service bulletin recommending that operators check fand replace ...
