NSW: Over 40s fail to stick to low cholesterol diet survey

SYDNEY, Nov 22 AAP - Australians over 40 are ignoring doctors orders to cut down on
cholesterol, a survey released today shows.

A whopping 73 per cent of those questioned in the Newspoll survey could not follow
the low-fat diets devised by doctors.

This is despite statistics from the Institute of Health and Welfare which show the
over 40 age group are most prone to high levels of cholesterol, a leading cause of heart
disease which claims 80 Australian lives every day.

Leading cardiologist Dr David Colquhoun said a worrying statistic from the research
