Vic: Koala attacks good samaritan after road accident

The RSPCA has warned people to approach injured animals with extreme caution, after
a motorist was attacked by a koala he tried to remove from the road.

The 78-year-old Volvo driver thought he'd killed the animal, and tried to drag it off
the road in Victoria's west.

RSPCA Victoria chief executive officer PETER BARBER says koalas have very strong, ferocious
claws - he's cautioned anyone against approaching a stricken animal unassisted.
