Analysts: Russian results boost free market

WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 (UPI) _ The results of Russia's parliamentary
elections have given a huge boost to President Boris Yeltsin and his
most likely successor Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, and could lead to
a new wave of free market reforms. But they are unlikely to lead to any
significant improvement in U.S.-Russian relations, American analysts
said Monday.
``It is very exciting. Russia has a second chance now to complete its
transition to a free market economy and a fully functioning
democracy,'' said Edward Losanksy, president of the American University
in Moscow.
