TOKYO -- Investigative authorities, including the Metropolitan Police
Department, searched the offices and facilities of a religious organization,
HonoHana Sampogyo, on Wednesday. They are poised to get to the heart of
the organization's money collection tactics, which, the group claimed,
were mandated by the ''voice of God''.

The authorities launched investigations into allegations of fraud and
will concentrate for now on a total of 22 million yen that the group allegedly
swindled from three housewives. But about 1,100 people have filed damage
