(Daily Kent Stater) (U-WIRE) KENT, Ohio -- The sound of breaking glass echoed in Kent State University's Student Center plaza as members of Hillel commemorated Kristallnacht Tuesday. With solemn words and readings of the laws passed against Jews in Germany in the 1930s, students heard the sounds of hatred and discrimination.

Kristallnacht, "The Night of Broken Glass", occurred on November 9 and 10, 1938, when mobs throughout Germany attacked Jews in the streets, their homes and their places of work by vandalizing property as well as persons.
