Fed: Govt s attitude over drowning deaths questioned
A Queensland swimming school manager is questioning the Howard Government's attitude
towards drowning deaths.
CHRIS SHAPLAND says the government should be offering families an incentive to teach
under-fives to swim rather than slugging them with a GST on their children's swimming
lessons.
Mr SHAPLAND, the managing director of SHAPLAND Swim Schools, which provide more than
5000 lessons a week, says near-death water accidents have left up to 100 Australian children
