Massive blood clot killed Thomas
MIAMI, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- An autopsy has revealed that a massive blood
clot caused Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas to go into
cardio-respiratory arrest Tuesday at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Doctors
say that led to his death. Dr. Barth Green, professor and Chairman of
the Department of Neurosurgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami,
confirmed the cause of death at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
"Derrick had a massive blood clot located between the heart and the
lungs which took his life yesterday," Dr. Green said. "A certain
percentage of people with paralysis suffer from blood clots. What the
