QLD: Former chief justice criticises judicial appointments
BRISBANE, Feb 12 AAP - Former High Court Chief Justice Sir Harry Gibbs has criticised
the Queensland government's policy on judicial appointments.
The Beattie Government has appointed 12 women and 11 men to the bench, in a bid to
address the gender imbalance of the judiciary.
Sir Harry, addressing a legal function in Brisbane last night, said the judiciary could
never be truly representative in the way intended by the state government.
