Those John McCain highway signs springing up around Clark County are still a novelty in a state that historically hasn't even been a pimple on the face of the presidential primary season every fourth winter.
But 2000 is different.
The signs touting the Arizona Republican senator are just the first outward indication here of the campaign. It has been brewing behind the scenes for months but is getting considerably more visible.
More yard signs for various candidates are going up. Broadcast ads, already evident in the Seattle area, are almost certain to hit the airwaves here. And some of the candidates will be in the state ...
