IN electing MK Dan Tichon as Knesset Speaker yesterday, the Likud faction may have been sending a message to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Tichon has been one of the most outspoken critics of Netanyahu's decision to give his coalition partners control of most Knesset committees, charging that this will leave the government unable to implement its programs.
The Likud proper is currently slated to control only two of the seven committees the coalition will chair, with David Levy's Gesher Party chairing a third. The other four will go to coalition partners.
