HONG KONG, Jul. 2 (IPS) -- As the clock ticks away past the
one-year mark for Hong Kong's handover to China, there is
increasing concern here of Beijing's efforts to squeeze
pro-democracy supporters in the colony.
Members of Hong Kong's Democratic Party returned from Beijing
last night after being refused permission to disembark in the
Chinese capital. They say a blacklist of pro-democracy activists
in Hong Kong who are barred entry to China is far more extensive
than previously feared.
China has denied such a list exists, and say that it has the
right to deny permission to anyone entering into its territory, and
