Article: Endowment for UC system drags behind private schools

(Daily Californian) (U-WIRE) BERKELEY, Calif. -- The UC system endowment has more than doubled in the last 10 years but still lags behind many prominent private schools, a UC spokesperson said yesterday.

The university endowment is valued at nearly $6 billion, said Brad Barbar, UC assistant vice president of institutional advancement. UC Berkeley's endowment, approximately $1.8 billion, is the highest in the UC system, he added.
