(Daily Egyptian) (U-WIRE) CARBONDALE, Ill. -- SIU's all-time leading rusher, Karlton Carpenter, is able to return to the Saluki football team on a sixth year of eligibility thanks to a favorable ruling by the NCAA.
SIU applied for a sixth season of eligibility for Carpenter near the end of the 1999 season. Student-athletes are typically required to complete their four seasons of athletic eligibility within a five-year time span, but the NCAA recently made Carpenter's case an exception to that policy.
