Court Date Set for Hornets' Wesley

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Charlotte Hornets guard David Wesley received a court date of May 15 on two misdemeanor charges stemming from January's drag-racing crash that killed his friend and teammate, Bobby Phills.

Wesley's lawyer, Ed Hinson, made a brief appearance Monday before a magistrate to schedule the next court date. Wesley was not present.

Wesley is charged with misdemeanor speed competition and reckless driving. Each charge is punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Motorists convicted of speed competition ...
