UT-Arlington pitching proves too much for Tarleton State

(The Shorthorn) (U-WIRE) ARLINGTON, Texas -- The one place Mavericks baseball coach Clay Gould wanted to be Wednesday was at Allan Saxe Stadium.

His wish came true.

Gould, who has missed seven games due to colon cancer surgery and recovery, was out on the field coaching third base for the Mavs 3-0 win against Tarleton State.

"There's no other place I'd rather be than out there," he said. "I just wish I could've seen more guys over there."

Though Gould laughed about that, he was happy with the team's performance. The Mavs used three freshman pitchers -- Aaron Pullin, Mike Hurd and Clint Faught -- and junior Todd George to combine for the victory.
