(Daily Texan) (U-WIRE) AUSTIN, Texas -- Frustrated after almost a year of fruitless searching and faced with a rapidly approaching August deadline, the University of Texas System Board of Regents appointed an interim chancellor Friday to steer the UT System until a permanent chancellor can be named.

Dan Burck, currently the UT System executive vice chancellor for business affairs, will fill outgoing UT System Chancellor William Cunningham's shoes beginning June 1, in anticipation of Cunningham's Aug. 31 resignation.
