Allergies treated better by doctors

(Daily Targum) (U-WIRE) NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- When allergy season approaches, many people tend to self-medicate themselves with over-the-counter medications. However, going to a doctor for relief may be more beneficial, said Dr. Leonard Bielory, director of allergy and immunology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Allergies are an immunological response caused by sensitivity to the immune system, Bielory said.
