WA: Cable Beach takes battering from Rosita

PERTH, April 20 AAP - Broome surfaced relatively untouched today despite category-four
cyclone Rosita pounding areas south of the town, the fiercest storm to hit the area in
almost a century.
But the resort town's famous Cable Beach has been stripped of its gleaming white sands,
disappointing Easter holidaymakers who have packed the Kimberley centre for the start
of the district's peak tourist season.
Broome certainly looks set to lose valuable tourist dollars in the aftermath of the big wind.
