Red Sox-Tigers Game Rained Out
DETROIT (AP) -- They prayed for rain, and it rained. Maybe the Detroit Tigers are finally on to something. Heaven knows, nothing else is working.
Rain wiped out Thursday night's game between Detroit and the Boston Red Sox. That meant the Tigers didn't have to face Pedro Martinez, the premier pitcher in baseball.
This was rare good news for the Tigers, a team riding a four-game losing streak and jeered by its own fans on its inaugural homestand, which just ended. During the past five seasons, reigning Cy Young Award-winners are 12-0 with a 1.79 ERA against the Tigers.
