Gore Targets Bush on Social Security

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Al Gore accused Republican rival George W. Bush on Wednesday of making a ``smug assumption'' that he can win the presidency without detailing his plans for Social Security.

``It is responsible to make the strength and solvency of Social Security a major national priority. And it is responsible to tell the American people exactly how you propose to do it,'' Gore told the New Jersey AFL-CIO.
