DALLAS, May 7 (UPI) -- Joe Nieuwendyk scored his third goal in the last two
games Sunday night and Ed Belfour made 32 saves to push the Dallas Stars into
the Western Conference finals for the third straight year with a 4-1 victory
over the San Jose Sharks.
Dallas eliminated San Jose in five games and Belfour held the Sharks without a
goal in Reunion Arena for the seventh and eighth consecutive periods before
Patrick Marleau finally scored on the power play with 11:28 to play in the game.
The defending Stanley Cup champion Stars will meet the Colorado Avalanche in the
conference finals for the second straight year. Dallas had to win the ...
