NSW: Dads suffer more after miscarriage but get less help study

SYDNEY, May 11 AAP - Men suffered more than their partners after a miscarriage but
received less help in dealing with their grief, a new study has found.

Macquarie University researchers Kim Conway and Professor Graeme Russell found that
a man's grief after miscarriage was often overlooked by health professionals because he
was expected to support his partner.

It was also not expected that a father could "bond" with an unborn child.

The study examined the experiences of 39 women and 32 partners who had experienced
a miscarriage, using a "Perinatal Grief Scale" measuring three levels ...
