SA: Magnesium smelter to be built at Port Pirie

ADELAIDE, May 19 AAP - SAMAG Limited, a subsidiary of Pima Mining, today signed an
agreement with the South Australian government to build a $650 million magnesium smelter
near Port Pirie, north of Adelaide.

The company said it hoped to begin construction in the first quarter next year and
was currently looking at two suitable sites about 10 km north of the Iron Triangle town.

The plant was expected to reach its annual production capacity of 52,500 tonnes by
2004 using magnesium ore from a 516 million tonne deposit already identified at Leigh
Creek in SA's mid-north.
