SOC: UEFA seeks international transfer ban on young players

PARIS, May 23 Reuters - Soccer players under the age of 18 will be banned from moving
abroad if a decision taken by UEFA's executive committee on Tuesday is accepted by FIFA,
world soccer's governing body.

The committee agreed to ask FIFA, which has ultimate control over transfers, to impose
an international ban to stop young players being exploited or put at risk.

Markus Studer, UEFA's deputy chief executive, said too many players aged as young as
14 or 15 were moving abroad and there was absolutely no guarantees about their safety,
especially if the move was not ...
