SA: Dieting can lead to bad breath say dentists

ADELAIDE, June 21 AAP - You might lose some weight but dieting can leave you with bad
breath, dentists warn.

The Australian Dental Association said today infrequent eating caused bad breath as
bacteria in the mouth became stagnant.

Chewing and the texture of some foods cleansed the mouth, it said.

But while dieters were a high-risk group for bad breath, the lack of good oral hygiene
was still the leading cause of the condition.

Other factors included odour-causing foods, continued mouth dryness, smoking, sinus
and respiratory infections and even certain medications.
