SCOTT SIMON, Host: This is Weekend Edition. I'm Scott Simon. At
60 years of age, The Imam Wallace Dean Muhammad, leader of the American
Muslim Mission of North America, son of the late Elijah Muhammad,
is scarcely the most controversial or quoted American Muslim leader.
In fact, he's not even the most quoted Muslim leader in Chicago.
That would be Louis Farrakhan, who lives a few miles north of Wallace
Muhammad on the city's south side behind the stout walls of a mansion
built by the Nation of Islam and stoutly secured by the Fruit of Islam
guard. The other imam, descended from the assembly Elijah Muhammad
