ROBERT SIEGEL, Host: There's been a lot of talk about single mothers
lately. Fictional single mom Murphy Brown was skewered by Vice President
Dan Quayle last year, and there have been several recent studies of
the effect on children of being raised by a single parent, but there
has been little recent fiction using the single mother as a subject.
Now New York writer Mary Morris has published a novel with the main
character named Ivy Slovak [sp] who is a single mother living with
her newborn son in New York City. The book is called A Mother's Love.
