NOAH ADAMS, Host: Today in the Midwest, heavy rains hit areas that
already were soaked. Seven to eight inches of rain in some places.
There were flash flood warnings in parts of Missouri, Kansas, South
Dakota, Nebraska, forcing people to evacuate. In St. Louis, water
seeped through the 11-mile wall protecting the downtown, and the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers is now saying it could take until September
for floodwaters to recede. Meteorologist John Feldt has bee monitoring
weeks of heavy rain at the National Weather Service Forecast Office
in Des Moines, Iowa.
