LINDA WERTHEIMER, Host: For over 40 years, writer and composer Paul
Bowles [sp] has been an inspirational force for American writers.
The 1947 novel that began it all was titled The Sheltering Sky.
That and a dozen of Bowles' finest short stories, letters, travel
pieces, and journal excerpts have been collected in an anthology edited
by Daniel Halpern [sp]. The book is called Too Far From Home. Alan
Cheuse has this review.
