LINDA WERTHEIMER, Host: Senator Bob Packwood of Oregon was reelected to a six-year term in 1992 despite published reports that the senator had sexually harassed women staff members and lobbyists in his senate office. Before the election, the senator denied the charges. After he was reelected, he apologized for the behavior. A group of Oregon voters asked the Senate Rules Committee to negate Packwood's election because, they said, Oregon voters had been misled by the senator's denial.
