NOAH ADAMS, Host: A few years back, singer-songwriter, Randy Newman, wrote an anthem about Los Angeles [Randy Newman singing `I Love L.A.' ] And in case you wonder, Randy Newman still loves L.A., even though he sees the cruel beauty of nature.

RANDY NEWMAN, Singer-Songwriter: Yesterday when the wind changed and blew westerly and blew over the rest of the city, there wasn't any blue sky as there would have been over much of the city and uh, the sun, as it goes through the smoke, the sky looks sort of bruised, you know going down behind the fire. And it's you know, spectacular in a horrible way. And it smells bad.
