NEAL CONAN, Host: For those of you unprepared to embrace new ways
to say `Be Mine,' NPR's Renee Montagne got together with author and
lover of lost words, Susan Kelz Sperling. She's come up with some
antique ways to say `I love you.'
SUSAN KELZ SPERLING, Author: You are my sweet muskin [sp]. You are
my delicious little pulpetoon [sp], my delicious litte delicacy.
My favorite flammick [sp], come dance the lustigallant [sp] with me.
The flammick is a delicious desert, and a lustigallant is one of
those dances that you can just imagine you picked each other up off
the floor and threw each other around.
