British Columbia is the westernmost province of Canada. It lies on
the Pacific Ocean and includes Vancouver Island, and the Queen Charlotte
Islands. British Columbia, known as ``B.C.'' by Canadians, is slightly
larger than the states of Washington, Oregon, and California combined.
It is Canada's third largest province in both size and population.
Its largest city and chief port is Vancouver; Victoria is its capital.
Most British Columbians live near these two cities.
The Land and Climate
