Natural resources are the riches provided by nature, such as water,
soil, forests, wildlife, and minerals. Water is a major natural resource
of all nations. Many scientists say that the air should also be considered
a natural resource. Oxygen in the air is necessary for human and animal
life, and carbon dioxide in the air is necessary for plant life.
There are two kinds of natural resources: renewable resources, which
can be replaced or renewed (such as forests, grass, fish, and wildlife),
and nonrenewable resources, which cannot be replaced (such as coal
and other minerals).
