Galileo (1939: Leben Des Galilei)
Introduction:
Galileo is based on historical fact. Galileo Galilei (1564 - 1642) was a
great Italian physicist and astronomer whose investigations in the field of
astronomy brought him to the attention of the Inquisition, a tribunal
concerned with the judgment of heresies against the Catholic faith, and led
ultimately to his being silenced by the Church.
The investigations that led to Galileo's difficulties resulted in the
confirmation of the Copernican system of astronomy. For centuries, the
Western world had accepted the so-called Ptolemaic system. According to
