Interpretation: The Main Theme Of "Kubla Khan":
"Kubla Khan" is a poem primarily about the inspiration of the poe,
although, of course, it may be about other things also, as Professor
Woodring's interpretations suggest. This poem brings together in one short
work many of the familiar elements that are associated regularly in
Coleridge's poems with the poetic experience. ("Kubla Khan" can for this
reason reveal to us much about the process of poetic inspiration and creation
as Coleridge thought of it with particular regard to himself as a poet.)
