Absalom, Absalom! Introdution and Structural Analysis
Introduction
Although not the first in the Yoknapatawpha cycle, Absalom, Absalom!,
published in 1936, is one of the major novels in that cycle. Preceding it were
Sartoris, The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying, Sanctuary, and Light in
August. As we have already seen, characters in Faulkner's novels move freely
from one book to another, and thus the reader of more than one of the books
comes to experience the pleasure of recognition. Quentin Compson III, a major
