Chapter Ten

Like the seekers at the oracles of old, Billy is unable to believe in
Dansker's revelation, and the day following his discussion with Dansker an
incident occurred which made it even more difficult for Billy to believe in
the old seaman's warning.

While Billy was lunching with his mates, the ship gave a sudden lurch
and Billy spilled his mess upon a freshly scrubbed deck. Claggart, passing by,
