To bed or not to bed. This is not a question of sex for Generation X, but rather the way Shakespeare might have framed the issue of whether children should be encouraged to sleep with their parents in a "family bed" or independently in beds of their own. Many authorities and families agree with Dr. Spock who, in his classic "Baby and Child Care," advocates no exceptions -- maybe "acute illness" -- to the rule of children in their own beds, and Dr. T. Berry Brazelton who writes in "Toddlers and Parents" that children's "sleep problems" are really "parents' problems."
