Transcript: JULIA CHILD REMINISCES

CHARLES GIBSON, Host: Julia Child has transformed America. When she started writing about cooking and showing us how to do it on television in the 1960s, well, that was as time when America considered Hamburger Helper to be a fancy meal. But now America has changed, largely because of Julia, and every grocery store in the nation worth its salt, or cilantro, now has a gourmet section. Julia's expertise and inspiration came from years of learning, and her story is now the subject of a new biography by Noel Riley Fitch called "Appetite for Life." Recently I had a chance to talk with Julia about her extraordinary career and how it all began.
