Party Conventions: High-Minded Politics Or Hogwash.

Every four years, a lot of people wonder why we bother with party conventions when the presidential candidate is almost always known beforehand. After all, August is not enough without blowing any more hot air.

However, party conventions are more than just hot air. They are an important ingredient in our political system of dual parties, campaigning and elections. They are an element of tradition that inspire party activism and serve to create interest, stability and solidarity during a hectic campaign season.
