SCOTT SIMON, Host: Every now and then, and more often lately, music
of the old Catholic church becomes popular again. Last year, of course,
it was a group of Spanish monks singing Gregorian chants. This year
it is the music of Hildegard Von Bingen [sp].

Of course, 800 years ago they didn't have compact discs, not even
LP's and things, so Hildegard Von Bingen is being revived by arranger
Richard Souther [sp], who has reworked the compositions of this 12th
century mystic prophet and radical nun which were considered daring
for their time, with electronic sampling, synthesizing and world beat
rhythm. The result is a new CD called Vision, The Music of ...
