Transcript: Andre Previn Talks About His Love of Jazz

LIANE HANSEN, Host: My Fair Lady is on Broadway again. The revival of the 1956 Lerner and Lowe [sp] classic has earned respectful reviews. The renewed attention to the musical prompted NPR's Susan Stamberg to speak to Andre Previn, who recorded a jazz version of My Fair Lady' s score nearly 40 years ago. She found him in a concert hall in Washington, D.C. She also found that though his work now is with symphony orchestras, performing classical music, jazz remains very close to Previn's heart.
