JACKI LYDEN, Host: In the wake of the lifting of the U.S. trade embargo
with Vietnam comes the film The Scent of Green Papaya. It's one of
a crop of movies this winter in which the country of Vietnam is the
subject or the backdrop, but the only Vietnamese film ever to be nominated
for an Oscar. Critic Bob Mondello reports that it deals with Vietnam
before the war when the war between the sexes was one of the biggest
battles.
